Continuing north towards Hope Vale from Cooktown is the Battle Camp Road turn-off to Laura. This is a beautiful 4WD route which crosses Isabella Falls and continues on to Old Laura Homestead and Rinyurru (Lakefield) National Park. About 140km from Cooktown to Laura, this very scenic road is ideal for a day trip from Cooktown or as part of your Cape York journey. 4WD is recommended if you are planning to make the water crossing at Isabella Falls. If coming from Cooktown, the Battlecamp journey is a great way to get to Rinyurru (Lakefield) National Park.
