The building is heritage listed inside and out. The Old Bank used to be home to the Cooktown Historical Society, with multi award-winning displays which show you what life in Cooktown used to be like.
These displays have now moved to the Historical Centre at the Archive and Research Centre at 121 Charlotte Street. The Research Centre is also the place to come if you’re researching your family’s history. Manned entirely by volunteers, opening hours are flexible.
