A 4WD adventure with rough tracks, creek crossings and beach driving, the journey from Cooktown to Starke NP, Kalpower and Wakooka Aborginal Lands, Cape Melville National Park ending at Lakefield Ranger Station is almost 250km. It’s a further 109km to Musgrave, 84km to Laura and Cape Melville is 110km return from Wakooka). This journey can be combined with the Rinyurru and Battle Camp routes to make an adventure of almost 600km!

North of Mount Webb is Starke Homestead and further on is Wakooka Ruins. Cape Melville is a further 2-3 hour’s drive. Cape Melville National Park is remote with a spectacular coastline of rocky headlands. Recreational fishing is allowed.Fisheries regulations and zoning apply. Camping is possible at Crocodile, Wongai, Oystercatcher and Granite (Bathurst Bay), near Cape Melville and Ninian Bay. Bathurst Head is 48km from Kalpowar with a campsite at Kalpowar (QPWS e-permit required).
